Gert Biesta
Gert Biesta is a professor of public education at the Centre for Public Education and Pedagogy, National University of Ireland at Maynooth; professor of educational theory and pedagogy at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh; and a professor II in the Faculty of Education, Arts and Sports at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. Biesta cares about education and has a particular interest in theorising education in ways that make sense for educational practice. He has published widely on the theory of education and the theory and philosophy of educational and social research, with a particular interest in teaching, teachers, teacher education, curriculum, policy, citizenship education, arts education, and religious education. He is an appointed member of the Educational Council of the Netherlands, the official educational advisory board of the Dutch government and parliament. To date, his work has appeared in 21 different languages.
